Art/ Engineering Portfolio

I also create art and design technology in my spare time: Take a look at some of my portraits, architectural drawings, 3D Printed work, mechanical projects, and more below!

When I create art, I try to explore a theme or a subject for each series. Examples of these are my ‘Influential People’ portraiture series, or my ‘Modern and Ancient Architecture’ series.

In technology, most of what I do comes from my own personal needs, or where I see an area which could use improvement or innovation – this can be seen in the 3D Printed stationery holders which I’ve designed and printed myself, or the phone holder I designed earlier this year.

Influential People

(July 2019 to April 2020)

In this series, I explore some of the most influential people in history – from modern-day business leaders like Jeff Bezos, to Historical Political Leaders like John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Franklin D Roosevelt. I used chalk pastel for half of them, and for the other half I used oil pastel. Each drawing is A2.

The Pieces are:

  1. John D Rockefeller
  2. Jeff Bezos
  3. Alexander Hamilton
  4. Ronald Reagan
  5. John F Kennedy
  6. Julius Caesar
  7. Franklin D Roosevelt
  8. Ralph Lauren
  9. Ross Perot
  10. JP Morgan
  11. Thomas Edison
  12. Bill Gates
  13. Theodore Roosevelt
  14. Vladimir Putin

3D Printed Hexagonal Holder

(April 2020)

I designed this hexagonal stationery holder myself using TinkerCad, and then printed it on my Creality Ender 3 3D Printer. It took about 2 Hours to design and 16 Hours to print using PLA. The logos on the sides are:

  1. Galactic Empire (Star Wars)
  2. Arc Reactor (Marvel)
  3. Galactic Republic (Star Wars)
  4. Batman (DC)
  5. Rebel Alliance (Star Wars)
  6. Iron Man (Marvel)

Face Shields for Care Homes and Pharmacies

(May 2020)

I used my 3D Printer to make face shields for care homes and pharmacies in my local area because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I used a template from this youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxsA8YMlbpSbjPJoV1-HeWA

Architectural Drawings

(Early 2017 to Feb 2020)

One of my favourite things to draw is Architecture, and over the past few years I’ve made a few Architectural drawings – some are in Pencil, others in charcoal, watercolour, or copic marker. The drawings are:

  1. US Capitol Building
  2. Skyscraper by Zaha Hadid
  3. St. Basil’s Cathedral
  4. Modern House
  5. The Shard
  6. New York Skyline
  7. Forest House
  8. Houses of Parliament
  9. London Skyline

3D Print: Superhero-themed Compartmentalised Stationery Holder

(June 2020)

I designed this holder originally to be lazer-cut and then line-bent as part of my Design and Engineering assessment, but I adapted the design (and added some logos) and then 3D Printed it. It is designed to have separate compartments for:

  1. A glue stick
  2. Scissors
  3. Pens
  4. Pencils
  5. A ruler
  6. A calculator
  7. Post-it notes: It has an extended ledge to hold post-it notes, which can also be used to hold up a phone.

The logos it has are

  1. Batman (DC)
  2. Iron Man (Marvel)
  3. Superman (DC)

Paintings

(Summer 2018 to Feb 2019)

I haven’t done that many paintings, as they can be difficult to set up and I prefer drawing, but I have done a few that I’m quite happy with:

  1. Siamese Fighting Fish
  2. Ocean and Sky
  3. Shrimp
  4. Ocean and Islands

Marvel Characters

(October 2016 to May 2019)

I’ve always loved Marvel, and here are some of the drawings I’ve made of characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of them are in pencil or charcoal, but most are coloured either with copic markers or pastels. They are:

  1. Tony Stark
  2. Spider-Man
  3. Thanos
  4. Groot
  5. Rocket Raccoon
  6. Tony Stark (2)
  7. Yondu
  8. Iron Man
  9. Black Panther Mask
  10. Iron Man (2)

Sculptural Work

(2019 to 2020)

The two sculptures shown are:

  1. A humanoid statue made of broken technological bits and pieces, like a camera, circuit boards, wires etc. 1st picture is in the art studio at school in 2019 before I coloured it to be darker, 2nd is the bits of the old camera (at the top of the sculpture) that broke off when I was allowed to hit it with a hammer to make it look battered, and next 3 are what it looks like now.
  2. An Iron Man helmet made of cardboard, paper and lots of tape.

Cars

(2017)

The three cars drawn here are:

  1. Mercedes Benz AMG
  2. Bentley Bentayga
  3. Ferrari

Bear in mind I was ten here so this isn’t by best work…

Lego

(2016 to 2020)

One of my favourite things to do is build lego, and here are (almost) all the things I’ve built over the last 5 years:

  1. Star Wars Resistance Bomber
  2. Star Wars Destroyer
  3. Statue of Liberty
  4. Porsche 911
  5. BMW Motorbike
  6. Capitol Building
  7. Star Wars Spacecraft
  8. Formula E Car
  9. Eiffel Tower
  10. Saturn V

Quick Architectural Sketches

(2017 to 2018)

Some quick architectural sketches of buildings, like hotels I have stayed in.

More Sketches

(Summer 2017 to Jan 2019)

These are two more sketches I made that don’t really fit into any category – one is charcoal and of shells, and the other is pencil and of a dragon eye.

Design and Engineering

(December 2019 to Feb 2020)

The first two pictures are of an Engineering Project I did last year, which is a phone holder. I designed it to fit my phone, and it can swivel at the base as well as moving in 2 other places.

The other 3 DT projects are

  1. A meccano set
  2. A robotic arm
  3. A mecanno robot kit

Landscape Marker Drawings

(2017)

These are two quick landscape drawings based on paintings by J M W turner.

Other Character Sketches

(2017 to 2018)

These are quick character sketches that I did a few years ago:

  1. Scooby Doo Characters
  2. Hamilton Musical Characters
  3. Pirates of the Carribean
  4. Hulk Vs Thor (Thor Ragnarok)

Cartoon Star Wars sketches

(2017)

This is very different to anything I usually do, but I tried to draw Star Wars cartoon characters/ characters in a cartoonish style, before the release of Return of the Jedi in cinemas.

  1. The droids: R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8
  2. The Jedi: Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker
  3. The Sith: Darth Maul, Darth Vader and Kylo Ren
  4. The Goodies (except for Darth Binks): Han Solo, Chewbacca and Jar Jar Binks
